Translation, ‘People of the Book.’

This phrase refers to all believers and followers of the past Divine scriptures, most commonly referred to as the Abrahamic religions of Judaism and Christianity – and as an extension, some interpretations also add the Sabians and Zoroastrians as they are mentioned in the Qurʾān. Each of these religions follows a sacred text, which in Islamic belief, was revealed for that group of people by a Prophet of Allah, specific for their era and region.
