The word Ḥalāl is used to categorize lawful acts, items or behaviors. For example: halal food, halal income, halal relationship, etc. None of these items are inherently Ḥalāl. They become Ḥalāl when the proper laws and rituals are observed. For example, meat slaughtered according to zabihah guidelines becomes halal.
